Your question about melasma

Melasma is a pigment disorder that causes dark spots on the skin.

Treating melasma

These spots (usually on the yoke, the forehead and the chin) are often erratic in form and this disorder is often seen during pregnancy due to hormonal changes (the so-called pregnancy mask).

Melasma can be treated but it is often necessary to treat long-term because the spots can come back.

Chronic sun damage, but also trauma, pregnancy, hormones, scratching the skin or aggressive skin treatments can cause pigment problems. We usually treat pigmentation with our laser treatments. However, this treatment is in some cases not sufficient to address the pigmentation.
