How does a pimple arise?
A pimple is a skin condition caused by overproduction and / or inflammation of a sebaceous gland. When sebum accumulates in the subcutaneous sebaceous gland follicle, a pore may become clogged. Such sebum accumulation is called a blackhead. Due to the sebum accumulation, the sebaceous gland follicle can eventually tear open. The contents then end up in the adjacent skin and cause a subcutaneous bacterial infection that we know as a pimple.
How can you prevent and/or cure pimples?
The amount of sebum production is highly susceptible to hormones. Because of negative hormones (stress) the skin is more susceptible to bacteria. Negative hormones (stress) cause the secretion of certain hormones, including the stress hormone cortisol. A hormone increase in turn accelerates sebum production and sebum accumulation causes pimples. Stress disturbs the barrier function (our protective mantle) of our skin, so our skin is more susceptible to bacteria and you are more likely to get bacterial infections that make pimples worse. It is very important that you do everything to keep your negative hormones as quiet as possible.
Pimples & nutrition
Certain foods contain hormones or stimulate hormone production. Mainly in animal fats (cow’s milk, pork, etc.) are hormones. Refined carbohydrates (white pasta, bread, biscuits, etc.) accelerate hormone production and thus also the production of sebum.
Be careful with sugar and salt, soft drinks and other sugary foods should be avoided as much as possible, even fruit juices. Complete fruit is okay, if in moderation. A healthy balanced diet keeps the skin clean and supple and prevents inflammation.
Pimples & aggressive care products
There are countless aggressive products on the market that promise wonders in the fight against pimples. However, they do not only remove dirt, but also protective greases. This allows the immune system completely out of balance, with all the consequences. This makes the skin more susceptible to inflammation. It is therefore necessary to use good care products. These are available at KNAP.
Pimples & water
It is important to drink enough water to keep the skin moist and supple. Water purifies our body. Green tea is also recommended.
Pimples & foundation
Note with foundation, important is that it is water-based so oil-free. Also make sure you remove the foundation every evening with a proper cleanser.
Pimples & ingredients
These ingredients in care products close the skin. Fat and oil clog the pores. Check this in the ingredients list on the packaging; beeswax, cera microcrystalline, lanolin, mineral oil, paraffin liquidum, parafinnium subliquidum, parafinnium perlicum, isoparaffinic c11-12-13-14, petrolatum (petrolatum) perubalam and DHA dishydroxy alcohol (self-tanning).
Pimples & sports
Sport enough. Perspiration cleans the pores, sports also prevents stress and therefore helps against negative hormones.
You can better remove a pimple from our skin experts. Scratching and pinching yourself can lead to inflammations that can last for weeks or even months. Scarring can also occur when the hair is removed incorrectly. The best you can leave a pimple alone until it automatically heals or jumps open. If you want to remove the pimples yourself, use a sterile needle, prick very carefully in the white cup and let the pus run out. At KNAP, our skin experts are specially trained for this and they can professionally remove the pimples for you in the right way.
